Christianity and the Arts
While up here in Louisville, I went to a coffeehouse discussion thing and the discussion topic was on Christianity and the Arts. Seminary professor Dr. Steve Halla delivered an excellent presentation on the topic and I spoke to him and shared my heart for this topic and it all got me very excited about coming to Southern and learning more about a degree program they will be offering on Theology and the Arts.
So, using some great resources that Dr. Halla used in his presentation, over the next few weeks I’m going to attempt to delve into this subject and ask questions like: What is art? Is art dying? Why should we care about the arts? What is wrong with modern art? How can we use The arts in ministry? So needless to say, this should be fun, informative and interesting.
I will be acquiring and reading the following books in the coming months, all refrenced in Dr. Halla’s presentation. And I’m looking forward to it with great pleasure.
