ENGAGING CULTURE

This morning, I woke up at 5am and couldn’t go back to sleep. So instead of trying to go back to sleep, I got up and came to work. I thought that I had an original idea, or at least would be the first to put that idea into motion. My idea was to give everyone the ability to have an indexed and searchable database of their personal library. Simply choose the books that you own and voila the information is retrieved from library databases. Once your library is built then you can add reviews and summaries and rate the book for others to see. Also you would be able to search by topic or keyword for books that you own on a subject. And since everything would be online, you would be able to meet other people reading the same books and get reccomendations on other books that you might like based on the ones in your library.

I thought it was a great idea. I was planning to come into work and buy the domain name mylibrary.com or netlibrary.com. But I decided to look around to see if anyone else already had the same idea. Indeed they did. Librarything.com It’s just what I wanted to do except they beat me to the punch and are charging money for it if you have more than 200 books. I don’t like that. That is discrimination over those of us who really like books and have a lot. I’m gonna check it out for a while then I’m gonna build my own in the spirit of capitalism and compete with them to provide free online libraries to the world, muahahahaha. Sorry, I got a little carried away.
