Expelled Preview Screening
If the posters popping up around campus are to be believed, there will be a preview screening at Southern of the new Ben Stein documentary on intelligent design, “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed,” on April 1st. I had trouble believing it at first, It sounds like a cruel prank that Dr. Moore might play on his students. The posters say that there are 200 first come first serve tickets available in the School of Theology office. This is true, I have one in hand as a matter of fact. I can just imagine the 200 excited students raring to see the controversial and highly anticipated film over two weeks in advance, then having Dr. Moore walk in and say April fools! But I think it is worth the possible humiliation of being punk’d.
If you haven’t heard of the movie, author, former presidential speechwriter, economist, lawyer and actor Ben Stein travels the world, looking to some of the best scientific minds of our generation for the answer to the biggest question facing all Americans today: Are we still free to disagree about the meaning of life? Or has the whole issue already been decided… while most of us weren’t looking? I invite you to check out their website, ExpelledtheMovie.com. And if you are a Southern Student please grab a ticket while you can and join me on Tuesday, April 1st, at 2:30pm to see whether the joke is on us or on the Neo-Darwinians.
