The Political Derby
I don’t mean to make light of a sad situation, but I saw a great deal of irony in this:
In a rally just north of here (Louisville) on the Friday before the Kentucky Derby, Hillary Clinton urged her supporters to “go to the derby on Saturday and place just a little money on the filly for me,” as a metaphor for their support of the only female in the democratic race. But on Saturday, a cute analogy turned into a grim omen for Clinton as Eight Belles, the only filly in this year’s field, finished a noble second place but in doing so tragically broke both front ankles and had to be euthanized on the spot. Does this point to a hard fought second place finish for Clinton? The omen becomes darker still when you realize that Clinton (I mean Eight Belles) finished behind the Big Brown stallion.

Good Blog. I will continue reading it in the future. Nice layout too.

And, not only that, but that the race that she hung in to the finish spelled the end of Eight Belles’ career (and life). If that analogy is extended, Campaign ‘08 may well be the end of Hillary’s career and political life, too …
